When using this theme, you don’t need to assign a post thumbnail. As you can see, posts come out just fine without one. Post thumbnails are assigned by setting a “featured image.” This feature was made available starting with Wordpress 2.9. With this theme, whatever image you upload for your featured image will automatically scaled and cropped to be 568px wide. If you would like your post thumbnails to be a different size, the documentation that comes with this theme shows how to change that.
